Follow me at http://jaiking.tumblr.com/ You’ll be glad you did.

Just so you know, I use the term ‘hike’ loosely here. It’s a quick, kinda dinky walk, but the views are worth it. Pop a squat and enjoy the silence.
Who:
Anyone looking for a quiet view of the city.
What:
Easy .5 mile walk uphill.
When:
Dusk. Definitely avoid July 4th…apparently it’s a big gathering spot for watching fireworks.
Where:
Start at Cortland Avenue and Bocana Street
How:
Take Bocana Street toward Eugenia and hang a right on Powhattan. Make a left on Anderson and a left at the hill. Follow the trail up and past the tower, find a spot and admire the view. Note: it gets pretty windy up there, so bundle up!
To return, you can either go back the way you came or continue following the dirt trail around the hill. You’ll eventually start sloping down and come to a set of stairs. Keep walking down the stairs into the Esmeralda Corridor. Turn right, head toward the Mission and grab a drink. A warm one.
